As the campaign "graduates" from treating many aspects of the 5th edition books (such as the monster manual) as gospel and starts to use them more as a guideline to make our own monsters and loot, our campaign also features more and more custom magic items.  Like any item, sometimes you might need to look it up, and since our custom things aren't in the DMG, we'll put them here so you know what that thing is that you looted however many sessions ago!  This will certainly not be an alphabetical listing, and we'll try to keep the number of posts down, editing existing posts, so a simple "Find" (Ctrl-F) on this page will help you with what you're looking for!  To this end, please ask any questions on the facebook group so we can keep this page as pure an index as possible!

-Scarab amulet of Quintessential adaptation: Once per long rest, as a reaction the wearer of this crystal scarab amulet can choose to make themselves resistant to one of the primary damage elements (Fire/Ice/Acid/Lightning).  This resistence persists until it is changed again.  This item requires attunement.

-Locust ring of Quintessential force: While this crystal signet ring is worn, one of two effects is active, chosen from turn to turn:

1) One of the wearer's attacks per full attack action  gains a potential range of 60 feet as a blast of one of the four primary damage elements (Fire/Ice/Acid/Lightning) lashes out from their weapon or unarmed hands.  

or
2) The hand wearing the ring confers a bonus 1d6 damage of the element chosen to the weapon used or damage cantrip cast using that hand.
An element may be chosen once per long rest.  This item requires attunement


-Quintessence crystal of spell storage:  This shimmering crystal acts as a ring of spell storing  with the following variations.

1) The crystal can hold 1d8+8 spell levels and, yes, that means up to 9th level spells.
2) Once the total spell levels the item can hold is absorbed and used, the item ceases to be magical.  This is a consumable that will only ever deal in the number of spell levels allocated to it.

(Ring of spell storing entry: This ring stores spells cast into it, holding them until the attuned wearer uses them. The ring can store up to 5 levels worth of spells at a time. When found, it contains 1d6 − 1 levels of stored spells chosen by the GM. Any creature can cast a spell of 1st through 5th level into the ring by touching the ring as the spell is cast. The spell has no effect, other than to be stored in the ring. If the ring can’t hold the spell, the spell is expended without effect. The level of the slot used to cast the spell determines how much space it uses.  While wearing this ring, you can cast any spell stored in it. The spell uses the slot level, spell save DC, spell attack bonus, and spellcasting ability of the original caster, but is otherwise treated as if you cast the spell. The spell cast from the ring is no longer stored in it, freeing up space.)

Offboard characters may contribute to the filling of this crystal between sessions.

-Quintessence crystal of shielding:  This crystal will, as a reaction, create a once-ever shimmering crystal shield that absorbs all incoming damage up to 5d4x5 points.  This shield cannot be healed back, will absorb the first incoming damage points once established, benefits from all of the player's abilities to mitigate incoming damage, and will last until the next long rest.  Damage absorbed by the shield will not force a concentration check on spellcasters.  This item ceases to be magical once used.  (Alternate versions: Portable shield generator.)

-Monkey idol: The bearer of this item can choose to "nimbly dodge" as a reaction, avoiding any single target, non-spell attack with an attack roll that targets only them.  This item ceases to be magical once used.
